When school is out, Encore is in! While school is on a short vacation, Encore will take its students on a vacation of lifetime–into literary destinations! New this season, Encore is pleased to offer mini-camps for students in Kindergarten – 5th grade on days when Arlington Public Schools are closed.
Spring Break Camp
“Greetings from The Best of Broadway!” Travel with Encore as we will explore the exciting music, movement, and madness of Broadway Musicals! Each day will focus on a new Broadway hit! With props, costume pieces, and imagination, students in grades K-5 will bring your favorite Broadway musicals to life! Students will also enjoy theatre games, crafts, and activities. We’ll be sure to send a postcard! Enrollment is a la carte. Choose to sign up for one day, or the entire week!

It’s Elementary: A Little Theatre for Big Imaginations
Join us this summer for an exciting theatre adventure! Teaching Artists will channel the energy and imagination of our young campers through story drama and character creation. Students will explore their creativity through dance, crafts, and theatre games during this fun and engaging two-week camp. Students will be divided into age groups. Students ages six and up will experiment with scripted drama. Each session will feature a unique theme and final performance. Staff to participant ratio 1:6. Ages 4-9.
Scenes for Tweens & Teens: An Exciting, High-Impact Drama Program
Get your friends together for two weeks of theatrical fun! During Scenes for Tweens, students will develop their performance skills through character study, movement, improvisation, and scenework while exploring concepts of creativity and ensemble-building. During each session, students will be divided into age groups. Each session will culminate in a scripted performance for family and friends. Staff to student ratio: 1:9. Ages 8—12.
Stage Door A Three-Week Theatre Conservatory
Campers at Stage Door will create a fully-staged production! In this conservatory-style program, students will develop their performance skills through a variety of classes and workshops. Each day, students will concentrate on improving their acting, singing, and dancing skills as they prepare for these public performances. Special workshops may include stage combat, improv, physical comedy, makeup design, and more. Throughout the three-week program, each student will be challenged to fully engage their creativity, to develop a memorable character, and to work as part of a team while gaining valuable stage experience. Runs in conjunction with Encore’s Tech Camp. Staff to student ratio 1:7. Ages 11-15.

Each morning, we’ll focus on exploring technical skills including scenic design, costuming, stage management, makeup, lighting, sound, and more. Afternoons will be spent making our designs a reality by creating and painting sets, props, and costumes. Our third week will showcase our skills as designers, creators, and backstage crew members during two public performances. Throughout each session, campers will also have the chance to engage in exciting theatrical workshops in topics such as stage combat as we build towards our final performance. Runs in conjunction with Encore’s Stage Door camp. Staff to student ratio 1:7. Ages 11-15.
Summer Stories (2015)
Looking for even more summer fun? Turn your favorite stories into memorable scenes and skits at this brand-new one week camp! Students will be divided into groups by age, and students ages 10-12 will have a chance to experiment with playwriting. All ages will enjoy movement, crafts, and theatre games during this special one-week camp. Staff to student ratio 1:6. Ages 4-12.
